The Motive Ring is a sleek and lightweight fitness tracker. It’s also waterproof for up to 165 ft., so you don’t have to worry about remember to take it off when washing your hands. After some production delays, delivery started in late 2017.
The Motiv Ring has 2 sensors: a heart rate monitor and an accelerometer. The primary metric it measures is “active minutes,” which is the time you spend moving around. Specifically, it measures steps, distance, calories burned, and sleep. These measurements are broken down into days, weeks, and months. It’s built so that recreational scuba divers can keep it on, as its waterproof up to 165ft. The battery life lasts roughly 3.5 days.
It’s not an Apple watch. The figures should be considered more “ballpark.” There is no option to track or stop workouts. The Motiv ring requires a unique USB charger. It also does not support Android phones as yet.
The Motiv Ring is perfect for someone who wants an indiscreet fitness tracker. Although some find it pricey, there’s a lot of engineering in this small piece of smart jewelry.
